WORLD OBSERVES AS HAMAS LEADER IS SPOTTED IN NIGERIA

Reactions have continued to trail the presence of senior Hamas leader, Ghazi Hamad, at a local TV station in Nigeria. The spokesperson for one of the world’s deadliest terror group was interviewed by local TV journalist, Seun Okin, who gifted the terror-apologist a platform to further spew extremist-backed propaganda and antisemitic tropes about the Israeli-Gaza war.

In a press briefing last November, White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, had remarked against Ghazi’s ability to fan the embers of Islamic extremism, thus revealing the position of the White House on the villain terror-monger under multiple international travel ban, to which Nigeria now plays host.

Despite being described as a secular state, Nigeria has continued to position itself as an Islamic nation with terrorist leanings, no thanks to past presidents who referred to Boko Haram—one of the world’s deadliest terror groups—as “misguided brothers.”

Over 50,000 Christians have been murdered over the last decade in the nation’s northern region where recent independent investigations reveal a large network of terror funding linked to Saudi Arabia and perpetrated by popular Islamic clerics and businessmen. Hamad’s visit may well be sponsored by same, analysts believe.

Ironically, only Isreal has attempted to draw the attention of the UN to Christian massacre in Nigeria.

Whatever the mission of Ghazi to Nigeria, it does not appear good for a nation with such decaying economy, plagued by unemployment, skyrocketing inflation and persistent insecurity. In the interest of saving Nigeria’s battered international reputation, President Tinubu must disassociate the nation from all forms of affiliation to terrorism, including the acceptance of terrorism evangelists like Ghazi.
