WITH THE SUSPICIOUS BURNING OF CARD READERS IN NIGERIA – CAN ELECTIONS BE FREE & FAIR?

As we continue to follow events in Nigeria,
vis-à-vis its election of a new  President on Saturday, our on the spot correspondent examines if elections in the country can still be free and fair, especially, with the recent burning of card readers for the elections in a number of opposition dominated states.

So many questions remain unanswered. How did these card readers lit up in flames with state security apparatus in place? It simply begs the question. Charles Dazong a resident of Plateau, Nigeria who spoke to our reporter described the incident “as a premeditated [deliberate] act to disenfranchise voters in opposition dominated states so as to rig the elections outrightly or even reschedule a second poll where the entire security apparatus of the country would be readily available and redeployed to the states to rig the elections for the government”.

It’s sad what is going on in Nigeria. It may be recalled that gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun States where marred with widespread rigging in favour of the incumbent Nigerian government with over thirty thousand state security officers deployed to the states. Reports also suggest that the President’s party [APC] may have concluded arrangements for foreigners from Niger Republic, Chad and Cameroon to help their party rig the Saturday elections through electoral malpractices in northern Nigeria. Recently, two Governors from Niger Republic namely Governors Issa Moussa of Zinder and Zakiri Umar of Maradi States where spotted at the Presidential rally of Buhari in Kano campaigning for his reelections.

The international community must call President Buhari to order.  The hope of the entire African continent rest squarely on the shoulders of Nigeria and the success of its elections [being the most populous country in the continent], crisis in the region cannot be risked. The world must act and now is the time! https://www.june12posts.com/us-cia-warns-about-aliens-coming-into-nigeria-via-chad-niger-and-sudan-to-facilitate-electorial-practices/
