Criticisms continue to trail the recent calls by Nigeria’s foremost traditional ruler, the Sultan of Sokoto ( Sa’adu Abubakar) asking the Presidential Candidate of the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party – PDP Nigeria Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to concede defeat in the much criticized rigged elections in Nigeria.
We at Civil Rights International find such unscrupulous calls/comments by the Sultan despicable and shameful. It’s disgraceful for anybody to suggest such, let alone an esteemed traditional ruler like the Sultan who covertly admitted in his remarks that he had no doubt that Atiku would in fact win the court case instituted against President Buhari in view of the copiousness of evidence of widespread rigging by the incumbent.

Strangely however, the Sultan bid the opposition aspirant to jettison attempts to seek legal redress in the interest of peace to forestall possible outbreak of a civil war. This really begs the question: How else can one seek justice in a democracy if not through the law courts? Is the Sultan by any means, implying that people should keep quiet while their giving mandate by the people is forcefully taking away from them? It’s shameful for a traditional ruler of his caliber to condescend so low with the ruling government to justify their stay in power through threat of violence. It’s a disgrace by all democratic standards. We urge the Nigerian opposition aspirant to disregard such open threat from the Sultan. Nigeria presently is witnessing a systematic genocide especially in the North Central region and sections of the North West region of the country. What more can be worse? It follows therefore, for the Nigerian opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar to go to court to recover his stolen mandate as this would only salvage his country from the hands of a selected few who are bent on clinging onto power at the expense of innocent Nigerians who are continuously butchered on daily bases by Fulani herdsmen terrorists. Hereunder, are the remarks of a heartbroken Nigerian in reaction to the ridiculous comments by the Sultan of Sokoto:
“The Sultan of Sokoto and his cohorts should as a matter of clarity note that long gone is the era when Nigerians tremble at the threat of violence. Does he think that this present age is still same as the era of 1967 when people have not gotten so wise and full of great intellect and technology? This is not a massacre or war between Fulani and southerners but it is a war between the Fulani and the Just and Concerned Peoples of the World. Even in Nigeria too, not only the south but the middle belt (North Central Zone of Nigeria) and many Northern states are involved. How can Buhari with glaring threat and intimidation, steal Atiku’s mandate and victory and Sultan is playing the devil’s advocate asking him (Atiku) to accept such unimaginable robbery and tyranny? It will never stand the test of time.”
#NigerianLivesMatter @Atiku NEVER EVER CONCEDE DEFEAT TO MOHAMMADU BUHARI.
