UAE: Court Upholds 6 Months Jail Term For Homosexual Men

The Federal Supreme Court in the United Arab Emirates has upheld a six month jail term handed to two men who were found guilty for committing homosexual acts.

The men, who are both Muslims, were previously found guilty of charges at the First Instance Court in Ajman.

According to the prosecution reports, they had intentionally committed acts of sodomy, which was proven by forensic evidence.

The prosecution demanded the court to penalise them as per Shariah laws.

The defendants denied the charges against them saying that the police had coerced them into confessing.

The Ajman Court of Appeal upheld the original verdict, as did the Court of Cassation.

Both men will be deported after serving their sentence.
