It’s not entirely clear how the UK government arrived at its decision to evacuate people in Gaza. Israel, within the circumstances of the existential threat they face from their very hostile neighbours, reserves the right to insist on a peace that would not compromise their existence. No nation would want such peace where your next-door neighbours possess the capabilities to sneak in at night and abduct your citizens. For lasting peace in the Middle East, the UK and G7 must take these into consideration.
