Following weeks of protracted pro-Biafra protest in South-East Nigeria, journalists on Sunday 22nd November, 2015 stormed Anambra, Nigeria seeking reaction from the foremost indigenous titleholder in the region, His Grace, Most Revered Professor Daddy Hezekiah (Odum Ebo Igbo-Lion of the Tribe of Igbo).
The erudite scholar in response, took time to narrate the ordeal during the Nigeria/Biafra civil war; stating that war is never a good thing.
He advised agitators of Biafra to do so through peaceful means using analogies of big nations which later disintegrated such as Czechoslovakia from which we now have Czech and Slovakia, old Soviet Union which account for 15 nations today as well as former Yugoslavia from which we now have a number of countries including Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and others.
Daddy Hezekiah while noting that Biafra can be achieved through peaceful means as with recent calls for referendum in Scotland and Catalonia, Spain, however questioned how South East Governors will grapple with leadership when Biafra becomes reality if the Governors cannot at the moment deliver good governance to their respective states. He therefore called on indigenes and the media to hold the Governors in the region accountable especially in Aba, Abia State where roads are dilapidated.
It would be recalled that the highest King making body in South East Nigeria, Ohaneze Ndigbo, in 2005 bestowed the title ‘Odum Ebo Igbo’ on Daddy Hezekiah which translates ‘Lion of the Tribe of Igbo’. The title was at the instance of the Igbo number one King maker Adama Nri.
Daddy Hezekiah in recent times have bagged many other titles/awards including Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) from the Nigerian Government as well as Justice of Peace from the United Nations. He is reputed for his saying ‘peace is better than war’.
